Camping Out
Set in Carmel Valley at the organic Earthbound Farm Stand, Camp Vintage is host to some 25 vendors who bring to the party their collections of linens, farmhouse, ranch, kitchen kitsch, furniture, toys, tools, and everything irresistible.
For this show, the shoppers started before I even arrived. These are the hardy antique dealers who want to snatch up the sleepers and cool stuff before the general public. As I was a vendor, instead of a shopper, from 7:30 am on, I didn’t see daylight until about noon, as the crowds were now breaking for lunch. Families with their kids sat at picnic tables on the lawn, enjoying fresh organic salads and warm pressed panini on a breezy June day.
Behind the pavilion were the organic herb gardens and nature walks. Young couples with their children strolled by, an ice cream dripping from their hands, as they were to experience drifts of lavender and fragrant chamomile, mixed in with herbs of all types.
We were swamped and it was fabulous! This energetic crowd comes to shop. They are savvy buyers who love to decorate their homes and gardens and recognize what a vintage piece can do to enhance a space.
Hats off to show promoters, Andrea & Melissa, whose hard work to bring together collectors, shoppers and vendors, were rewarded with the joy of knowing they have created something very special.
